Nearly 34,000 new homes were completed in NYC in 2024, most since 1965. @nycplanning.bsky.social attributes this to the permitting rush ahead of the expiration of a key tax break in 2022. Only 15,626 units were issued permits in 2024, which the City of Yes zoning reforms will hopefully turn around.
