20.10.2025 18:20 β π 43 π 10 π¬ 4 π 1have to say, not convinced about the new Apps thing - some programmes (office, I'm looking at you) weren't showing in it (though others that are in the Dock are, so it's not that); nor can I sort by *my* logic. (e.g. "Apple Guff" & Screencasting - two things I used to have, 1 ignored, 1 used!

I was there at the start of the summer :) However, recently, just snowed under with work :( And got out of the habit of using this platform.

09.07.2025 06:26 β π 22 π 9 π¬ 2 π 3I think the environmental issues are useful to discuss, yes training takes a lot, but streaming Netflix etc also does. We need to be mindful of all digital environmental issues. Ethical issues such as copyright, bias etc are more specific in AI context than other scenarios.
07.06.2025 08:28 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Thatβs what gets Ed & Learning techs a bad rep :(
To me, Iβm an Educator first & foremost, technologist 2nd. So, AI, useful to generate *potential* m/c questions to help students untangle a complex paper, or similar for an open question in a discussion board. Not the exam or formal coursework
Thank you! I thought it was under lifestyle. Perhaps I'm muddling Guardian navigation with BBC. (Interestingly, for something under UK, I can see 3 articles, Derbyshire, Hong Kong & Estonia. So, it's actually UK/Global education :)

Why has @theguardian.com stopped having a dedicated Education section. One that I'm sure used to have school / University subsections.
26.05.2025 14:14 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 03: get back into being a 3 year old and asking βwhy?β - about even the most mundane of things
21.05.2025 20:39 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I canβt actually remember learning to ride my bike, but it clearly involved bruised knees, scrapes & figuring out what to do to not fall off. I do remember learning to wear a t-shirt (not no top) after falling off into the nettles one very hot day as I was figuring out the balancing stuff!
21.05.2025 20:32 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I also think there are huge diffs between personal reflection (which could even be β thank goodness I never have to do that againβ), reflection with peers, and reflection for assessment which is what many HEIs mean by reflection & many students donβt like
21.05.2025 20:30 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I think some areas just donβt call it βreflectionβ. For example in software engineering, youβd be asking did it perform as expected? What about edge cases? Could it be done more efficiently? Itβs just not called reflection
21.05.2025 20:26 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Agree, can also highlight reflection for self, reflection with trusted peers, reflection for assessment β¦ all start the same, may well emphasise different aspects
21.05.2025 20:18 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I think one of the potential dangers of that is *every* teacher getting students to do that. Doing it at the start to then help students understand the importance of doing it if using AI; maybe some will decide that working with original texts is actually more efficient (for them)
21.05.2025 20:17 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A2 it's hard to recognise your own assumptions and biases. Students might think whatever is written as absolutely true. #LTHEchat
21.05.2025 19:17 β π 4 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Primary school children are excellent at philosophy as they won't stop asking 'why'? It's a shame that education tries to knock that out of them (and, of course, we know why the state might want to do that). #LTHEChat

01.05.2025 16:18 β π 3 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0I think Iβd see part time being the default, campuses more set up for group work, more interdisciplinarity, space to work in, access to expensive tools/ software/ art rooms etc and time with tutors to push - almost Montessori style learning for adults. I can but dream A6
30.04.2025 20:00 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 3 π 0Oh I donβt know, you can reflect on learning new things during your retirement and look at the importance of life long learning :)
30.04.2025 19:56 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Though it might take time, there have been challenges with many children entering school who missed nursery due to the pamdemic
30.04.2025 19:53 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Banish all those βcountingβ things, much more qualitative evaluation of the student experience through the course, not a huge reliance on a single survey in their last year. But, as others have said ££ & people
