The NIH firing plan is really a radical institute merger and an authoritarian takeover
this is an Orbanization of US science: a move to exert political control over discovery, which will kill the US medical research industry and damage cancer cures. The plan must be stopped. We can act.
As the NIH illegal firings start, letβs remember:
This is about consolidating power so Trump can control NIH, not about efficiency.

We will fight back.

Peter Marks, FDAβs top vaccine regulator, forced out
Top FDA official Peter Marks was forced to resign as the director of the Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research.
"it has become clear that truth and transparency are not desired by the Secretary, but rather he wishes subservient confirmation of his misinformation and lies"

Trump administration cuts reach FDA employees in food safety, medical devices and tobacco products
The Trump administrationβs effort to slash the size of the federal workforce reached the Food and Drug Administration this weekend.
"Nearly half of the FDAβs $6.9 billion budget comes from fees paid by companies the agency regulates, including drug makers, which allows the agency to hire extra scientists to swiftly review products. Eliminating those positions will not reduce government spending." apnews.com/article/fda-...

Mike Pence just reposted an old article he wrote about the limitations on the powers of a president. For some reason. Here is a part of it.

Firing probationary employees is senseless. Probationaries are:
-New to their position
-Make lower salaries
-Recruited to bring in new talent
-Far LESS likely to be dogmatic
They're being fired because they have fewer protections. Not because this will improve government efficiency or cut costs.
