Tuesday February 3, 2026 Mountain View has turned off Flock automated license plate readers as out of state agencies were illegally accessing the data. The city’s police department did an audit and found unauthorized access in 2024 and that 29 of 30 cameras had data accessed by law enforcement that wasn't authorized to do so. Los Altos Hills also decided not to renew the contract with Flook due to privacy concerns. Both cities at the heart of Silicon Valley turning away from data collection that has been used by ICE shows a local separation from what some billionaire tech leaders are profiting from nationally. Trump says it’s “really time" to move on from the Epstein files. Meanwhile the GOP wants the Clintons to testify about them. Also today Trump echoed his comments about “nationalizing” elections while his admin had tried walking his comments back. Also Trump had spoken directly to Tulsi Gabbard and the FBI agents as they raided the Georgian election center. Trump also signed a funding bill to reopen the government
