Percentage change should *always* be expressed on a log scale, because it’s multiplicative.

A doubling and a halving should be given equal space.

Migrated my old tweets here. Worked ok I think, except they are dated by the date they arrived here (though an archival date is also included). Twitter polls didn’t make it over, and it’s a little weird to not get the subsequent discussion that occurred with the tweets.

Bluesky Is Turning Into a Strong X Alternative (Gift Article) Bluesky has a hint of the old Twitter magic, but the feeling of freedom it offers might be even better.

"joining Bluesky can be a reset β€” a chance to start over on a platform that isn’t engineered to maximize engagement, that isn’t owned by a capricious billionaire or an amoral advertising conglomerate, and that doesn’t treat its users as lab rats."

It was way more than "filling out a form" - took 16 months. BUT here we are! Starting in Oct 2023, we can start to document/track/study prone positioning in national databases. Thank you: @AllanWalkey @ScottManaker @NickABosch @atscommunity @accpchest @SCCM @aarc_tweets

So (after the above texts), we:
(a) wrote about how an ICD-10 code would help measure/improve quality of care and
(b) applied for a new ICD-10 code and I testified before @CMSGov in Sept 2022

🧡Prone positioning saves lives in severe #ARDS but it's hard to measure how often it actually happens. In 2019, we had to resort to surveying hospitals just to see if it was even an option (pre-covid, it wasn't, at most MA hospitals)...

HOW IT'S GOING:

August 1, 2023: Our brand new ICD-10 procedure codes for prone positioning in #ARDS are finalized, to be used nationwide starting October 1, 2023. @CMSGov

Didn't find difference in secondary outcomes (vasopressor duration, ICU LOS, hospital LOS, mortality) in this retrospective cohort.

So we looked ourselves! After multivariable adjustment, HR was ~4bpm ⬇️ in phenylephrine vs norepinephrine (despite higher HR in phenyl group at vasopressor start). Bigger difference in subgroup in rapid afib: ~6bpm.
Results robust to sensitivity analyses.
