Even though I know it's a mixture of scale models and CGI and whatnot, I still think the sinking building in Venice is one of the best visual and practical effects in a movie. It just looks real.

Unrelated - I always thought the dealer in Montenegro looked a bit like Cliff Simon(rip)/Ba'al in Stargate.

Fun fact: the white braces Daniel Craig wears in casino royale were supplied by my uncles company. My family had, for several generations, a belts and braces company.

I really like QoS. It is enjoyable.

In the book it isn't poker (obviously) but Baccarat. Changing to poker is a better choice, but it also loses a little charm.

The torture scene in the book lasts much longer (bond is tortured longer). I don't think we need to see more, but the truncated time line is less dark.

There's only a few things I would change in this movie.

One, there's too much poker. It needs a slightly tighter edit on the poker.
Two, the scene with the construction site has one shot where the camera gets covered in water droplets. I'd cut it. Or reshoot it..

The cinematography is beautiful, which helps and unfortunately could not be said for many prior installments. (Though the DP also did GoldenEye). I think Skyfall probably surpasses CR for photography though.

The music in his earlier films was great too, but in CR it's excellent.
Likewise Judi Dench. Always incredible, but her M becomes truly special in this film.

Martin Campbell directed it. But he also directed Goldeneye. (And though that was great), this is a world better.

What I find so brilliant is that some of the best aspects are by/involve people from earlier movies - just showing how the quality of work can be improved with the right team and drive.
