Some say that #MOF were discovered in 1900s, but this figure from 1760s clearly show a crystal structure of a MOF with inclusion in pores. Look - metal centers, linkers, guest molecules, all in!

Ready packaged crystal explorer kits ready to be distributed to schools
A map of Australia and NZ, showing pins across the region where primary schools have signed up for a Crystal Explorer kit
There are now boxes of #CrystalExplorer kits ready to go, a FREE resource for Primary Schools in Australia and NZ. We're targeting regional and remote schools (so far reaching from Tom Price to the Chatham Islands), head to BraggYourPattern.com to sign up for one

A box that is open with the lid to one side, inside the box is a booklet that is titled 'Crystal explorer Kit' and the lid has a sticker with the same title and an amusing picture of Sir William Lawrence Bragg
Details of the inside of the crystal explorer kit, showing the atoms and bonds as well as an inside spread of the crystal explorer booklet (on the page talking about Lonsdaleite)
Shows 6 boxes on trolley, with a box on top on one of the trolleys. The boxes are full of packaged up crystal explorer kits, so off to travel thousands of kilometres!
The first 50 Crystal Explorer Kits are packaged and off to the post office! Long day yesterday getting the sets finalised, but very exciting to get the first lot out of the door.

We've made a teaching booklet to explain how to make four structures with the sets, and plans for more on the website (BraggYourPattern.com), we are now aiming to send these kits out to Primary (elementary) Schools in regional and remote parts of Aus and NZ. 15 sign ups already!

image of a crystal model kit box, with the contents displayed. Inside the box there are two packets, one of black atoms and one of grey bonds
A green wheelie bin that is full of black atoms for the model sets, underneath the bin there are cardboard boxes full of grey bonds.
Image of a blister on someones thumb from removing all the the grey bonds from the black atoms for the crystal structure kits
The structure took many days to put together, and a small amount of time to tear apart. But that was not the end - the structure has now painstakingly separated into atoms and bonds and put into ~750 Crystal Explorer Kits

Tiling of the floor in Orval Abbey.
