HMV Ireland have an instore promotion 2 4Ks for €50.
That might not sound great but it’s on new chart releases that normally sell for €35 each. I didn’t buy any before you ask in that disapproving tone.

Apologies to anyone frightened by the sound of my shotgun being cocked, I accidentally saw 10 seconds of The Toy Show. I’m ok now though thanks for asking.

I never watched any Spartacus after the original guy died. Odd because I really enjoyed the crazy excess of that first season.

The first half of this plays really well with a crowd. I was giggling with excitement at all the Oren stuff. Sadly the second half is still an overstuffed bore. The last hour in particular had me envying Elle Driver having her eyes plucked out. Painful to sit through at the end of 4hrs plus.

An intermission? Oh just get on with it ffs!
First part played great but now the second part with all its lulls 🥱
Still I’m enjoying it so far.

Me me me post: I wrote an album with my good friend Mark Bourke and it's out on Monday. Honestly, it's very good. On the surface it’s as light and as sweet as one of Mendl the bakers delicate pastries but cut inside and there’s a surprising depth and melancholy to it. Fiennes is a hoot as the marvellously affected M. Gustave and the film looks absolutely gorgeous. A deserved hit for Anderson. The 4K is 😍

Love it and it was absolutely made for 4K.

Proud to see Ireland standing alongside Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Slovenia and a few others (only just hearing this so not up to date on everyone involved) by boycotting the Eurovision next year after Israel were allowed to participate. A good decision on the right side of history.

Yeah I have it but it’s in a box set with the other 2. Had a quick look and it seems it was released individually but I can’t see any copies available. The original trilogy can often be picked up in sales for £20 (think that’s what I paid) so that could be your only option atm.

I really liked Isle of Dogs but I’ve only seen it once and it was during a snowstorm in Dublin so I could have been just relieved to be indoors. I have it coming up after Grand Budapest.

As beautifully made as you’d expect from Anderson but there’s a lot here that feels like quirky for the sake of being quirky rather than for the sake of the story. The main character feels too much like Max Fischer with all the humour removed. Nice but my least favourite Anderson so far.

I can’t believe I forgot to tell everyone my big news - the other night I ate sprouts for the first time in my life and I didn’t hate them. Now I feel like I can do anything.

Only my 2nd time seeing it. I don’t remember loving it this much first time around so that was a nice surprise.

Anderson’s first animated film is distinctly his own. A terrific voice cast bring the quirky characters to life in a funny, unusual film that’s a wonderful departure from the usual big studio animated fare. A delight. The 4K picture is beautiful.
