At least 10 exclamation points (including “Horsefeathers!” & “Please! That is not what the law is.”) in Judge Leon’s opinion granting Sen Kelly’s preliminary injunction against Sec’y Hegesth. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

What is interesting is that the postwar Japanese constitution draft was written in English (by the U.S.) but the adopted version when translated (& thus definitive) defined “person”to mean “Japanese” (i.e. citizen). So courts have said some rights for citizens don’t apply to foreign residents.

Today’s NY Times int’l edition has a book review of a new book on Easter Island.
The review indirectly mentions the use of Tadano cranes in 1994 to raise fallen statues.
I worked on that contract for Tadano. Good to see old deals that turned out well!

Back in high school, I used to be a vendor at what was then Giants Stadium. Only the older guys could sell things like hot dogs & knishes (& of course beer). Depending on the weather & the game, they did pretty well. Me, selling soda or ice cream, meh.

These were left by the Chōshū clan when they bivouacked at Kogenji (a sub-temple of Tenryuji in Kyoto) at the end of the Edo Period. They were on the “expel the barbarians & revere the Emperor” side, fighting to end the Tokugawa Shogunate.
