Completely agree. Since Trump 1 Iβve come to appreciate how much of our constitution is unwritten. Weβre not nearly as different from the UK as we claim, as so much depends on norms, not text. Massive violation of norms is in fact a constitutional crisis.

I keep seeing posts going "when ICE comes to MY city, we'll be out in the streets even harder" and man, I get that sentiment but I need everyone to understand that the work in Minneapolis is partly confrontational but MORE IMPORTANTLY aaallll the stuff organized in the background to help neighbors

The guys with guns and masks who destroy lives and communities are apparently upset because we blow whistles. Itβs so traumatic for them that it almost makes them feel bad about killing peaceful protesters.

Republicans Unload On Kristi Noem: 'Way Out Of Her Depth'
βShe's proven that she doesn't know how to lead," Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) said of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem on Tuesday.
I swear, after Kristi Noem gets fired, if CNN or MSNow or another news station hires her as a talking head, I will never ever watch that channel again.

Riding in an Uber with an immigrant driver, one of Kristi Noemβs ads threatening βillegalsβ and promoting Trump just came on and my first thought is: Why the F does she still have a job?
And then: How much of our tax dollars are going to support this propaganda BS?
Her voice makes me want to vomit.

βI want my momβ: Kindergartner left without her mother for several days as ICE detains parents in Maine - The Boston Globe
A growing number of children across Maine have been left without a parent as immigration enforcement surges in the state.
The βparty of family valuesβ shows once again that they donβt actually give a crap about anyoneβs family but their own. MAGAβs deportation surge has been designed to cause maximum suffering to black and brown folk. Itβs about white supremacy, not law or economics.

If someone who was not an ICE agent assaulted me like this, I would go to the police and press charges. As it is, we're just supposed to accept being bullied and assaulted? This is not security. This is not rule of law.

I grew up with Alex Pretti
The kind-hearted ICU nurse shot by ICE agents was my childhood best friend.
This is an important read. Remembering the humanity of the victims of state-sponsored violence is crucial to combatting it. Being numbed by numbers and anonymity is easy. When I teach a class on Rwanda, I have students read a memoir from a Tutsi survivor to understand the suffering violence causes.

This is very much how I feel. I was in the grocery store the other day and heard other customers speaking Portuguese, Spanish, Chinese, Arabic, French, and my thought was, "Cool. I love living in a diverse place." It also means the food options on the shelves are way more interesting.

No!! I wish! I've loved Billy Bragg since the year I lived in Sweden in 1985, when Kirsty MacColl's version of A New England was on the radio constantly, which led me to Billy Bragg's music.

City officials make clear ICE is not welcome in Medford
Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn takes a stand after federal agents kill a second person in Minneapolis.
Medford, my formerly moderate, middle-of-the-road Democratic city, has been moving gradually left since Trump first got elected in 2016. I feel like Trump 2.0 is giving our town a hard shove toward more progressive politics. I'm guessing that we're not alone.
