Josh Marshall is a political writer that I follow regularly. His view is that, having watched Mamdani for months now, and notwithstanding points of disagreement with Mamdani, he sees zero evidence that Mamdani is anti-Semitic. And he believes Mamdani is serious about fighting anti-Semitism.

Yes, but isn't the argument that American Jews are in more danger now? It's not that there are more anti-Semites. It's that the anti-Semites are emboldened by Israel's behavior. This is not "caused by" Mamdani's support for Palestinians (since the violent anti-Semites hate him too.)

It's certainly true that some anti-Zionists are anti-Semites who advocate violence against individual Jews. But this danger is caused by the actions of the current Israeli government, which has made it plain that the justifiable fears of Jews who don't live in Israel are no concern of theirs.
