Just sent my first baby, a human being once so small she fit inside my body, off to high school freshman orientation. She’s not that far off from being an adult herself. Man…this quicksilver life.

I never do. I just try to be there for them when he's...being how he is, and make sure they know it's not their faults.

So he basically tricked me into being a single mom with their dad in another state. I don’t have to do what he says but I’m still working on saying no and undoing a decade of conditioning. I’m not great at confronting him.

He’s in CA, yes. When we decided to separate, we were all going to move back home to KC because SF was just too expensive for us to both live there. He told me to go ahead with the kids and he’d stay back and get the house sold. Then after we were here and kids in school, he told me he wasn’t coming

Their dad is honestly “very involved” but not in a helpful way. He wants control of their lives and what I do but doesn’t want to have to do any of the work. Or like, the kind, loving part.

Seems like he’s decided it’s time for just me to be the parent.

Keep getting new little facets of this. Now, even though he’s dramatically reducing the amount of time he has the kids, their step mom has to approve if they can come see him over winter break apparently.

When my ex remarried a couple of months ago I had a lot of fears about what that might mean for our kids. Now just watching everything I was worried about immediately crystallizing is wild. We’ll be fine. I’m scared but I’m also strong, and so are my girls.

What are the current rules for dress code on a video call with a client when you’re pretty chill and comfortable with them? I have a meeting tomorrow but I don’t want to put makeup on…or a bra. I feel like I have to at least do the bra, but I’m definitely wearing sweatpants and a soft top.
