Fond of real science and imaginary worlds, cursed with a knowledge of software engineering. Staff Engineer for state government. Might have coined the term 'Dire Millennial'. He/him.

There are some local groups that call themselves β€˜antifa <city name>’, but no, theres no central leadership, no charter, no official anything.
It’s just a position label anyone can claim, anti-fascist, like pro-choice or environmentalist.

A reminder to Europeans: the question isn’t ’why aren’t Americans protesting?’, it’s ’why aren’t I hearing about the unprecedented American protests?’

I strongly believe that immigration ’courts’ are blatantly unconstitutional and must be abolished alongside ICE.

Due process requires a neutral arbiter who is empowered to decide cases on their merits, not an employee of the agency trying to deport you, who can be ordered to sentence everyone.

Agitating the populace is our goddamned First Amendment right here in the US.

An astonishingly blatant lie, considering the mountains of video, the numerous court orders and judicial opinions, and of course the direct personal experience of thousands or millions of people.

Maybe just once Democrats should try an immigration policy that isn’t just an attempt to pander to xenophobic shitbags. The right will say the same things about it regardless, you might as well do some good in the world.

It’s a good thing β€˜aviation officials’ reacted as they did, or there’s a decent chance the fuckups at CBP would have fired on a passenger jet.
I don’t know what an β€˜anti-drone laser’ does to one of those and am profoundly grateful not to be finding out, yet.

Related but distinct, IMO - the founders who are not engineers (who are, in fact, hostile to engineering as both a discipline and a profession) have the most severe cases of the condition I’ve ever seen.

That’s a shame, Remedy did good work.

No, they didn’t. In their minds, courtesy of right-wing propaganda channels, there is a massive population of β€˜illegal violent criminals’, and that’s who they envisioned being deported.

Really? I mean, that’s not pocket change, but it’s easily in β€˜sufficiently-viral crowdfunded joke’ territory, which is wild for a brand that widely-known.

I’m okay with talking about it, I just think if you’re going to talk about it you should talk all the way through it. And that means talking about the logistics and implications: how many people it requires, where you think they’ll come from, what they actually do, how the public will respond, etc.

β€˜Outlaw prediction market derivativesβ€˜ is a position I now hold and also a sentence I never expected to need.

Really feels like everyone involved is just willfully ignoring how books actually work.

I don’t think β€˜we won’t do that because we don’t want to’ should be a viable response to a federal judge directing you to rectify your mistake.

Over the past two weeks I've begun to realize that rich people only started funding chatbots once they could no longer email Jeffrey Epstein

If you're building a startup in 2026, you are expected to work with the world's largest venture capital firm (which is not even really a VC firm), where one partner strangled my neighbor to death for being Black, and another actively sought Jeffrey Epstein's counsel for years. This is *normal*.

Yeah, reading up on everything else he’s done and said, this moves immediately into β€˜shocking but not surprising, honestly anyone could have called it’ territory.

Scared people also tolerate lower pay and worse (which often means cheaper) working conditions.

Until the hatchet came for me (turns out it will for everyone) I was in the room for the conversations you describe. You have been nothing but correct in this thread. I have heard similar sentences come from the mouth of a Chief People Officer.

the idea that there’s something you can do - some level of performance you can achieve - that makes you safe from the whims of execs is something they want to avoid

they want you to fear for your job, they want you to feel unsafe and unable to speak out

that, above all else, is the message

Epstein Files Reveal How Pathetic Richard Dawkins & Other Men Are Transcript: Well, it happened again. I’m mentioned in the Epstein files. Again. You probably saw my first video on this topic and you came away thinking that I’ve spent the past decade being as awe…

You would be in good company, apparently.

Yes, I think there are a great many Americans who are exactly like that. People who, though they might not use the word, think they vote for a 4-year Dictator, and are disappointed and frustrated when they don’t get one.

So they’re basically saying that they’re allowed to consecrate their own bishops because the Holy See doesn’t have a gold fringe on. Got it.

It occurs to me that darkness is unused EM spectrum, a thing we already regulate because of its local scarcity when considering radio wave bands. A machine that interferes with cell phone reception is essentially emitting β€˜radio pollution’.

I don’t speak Catholic very fluently, is there an explain-like-I’m-an-atheist summary you’d recommend for what SSPX is and why theyβ€˜re putting out a β€˜The Pope isn’t the boss of me’ press release?

Sometimes it feels like Americaβ€˜s defining cultural trait is oppositional-defiant disorder. Usually this just causes problems, but it’s hard to imagine anything that will make people more likely to vote than trying to intimidate them to not voting.
