Yesterday I bribed a student with a spinning wheel thing.
Said if he got a 3.5 GPA next semester then it would be his.

He is going to try.
But it will be a struggle for him- not because he isn't smart beyond measure, but because he doesn't focus long on things other ppl make him focus on.

Until he paused, looked around and realized we were in my office, with 2 other students (who were just hanging out) on literally dorm move out day.
Then he changed his mind and siad *I* am the third place.

This hit.

Discussed the concept of a "third place" today with a student who was fascinated by it as he hadn't ever heard of it but made much sense.

After he read about it, he told me that my classroom is the 3rd place. Gave reasons. I was a bit surprised because I couldn't argue much with his reasons...

The place where I'm working is looking for a department secretary. Job description isn't posted yet, but will be soon.
Federal job.
