My money's on a new version of this tax measure being introduced in tomorrow's budget anyways.

The previous government had proposed raising the cap gains inclusion rate to 67% for gains above $250k. When the election was called, the budget was scrapped, and the measure wasn't reintroduced.

I'm appalled by the use of the notwithstanding clause to override the Charter rights of workers. And people need to know that not only did the province use S.33, but they also suspended teachers' rights under the Alberta Human Rights Act and Bill of Rights.

Teachers should refuse to go back to work, and every single union member in Alberta should walk off the job with them.

Using the NWC to bust unions means that this government can never be trusted to do anything in good faith ever again.

Highwood MLA Danielle Smith is no fan of Alberta's proposed new license plates. She supports the new reflective paint job, but not changing the slogan at the bottom from "Wild Rose Country." She says it's more PC political nonsense. "All of a sudden this comes out in the middle of the summer, in the middle of a leadership race, taking off the Wild Rose slogan. It's clearly political. People have seen through it. They are outraged and responding in massive numbers. We have a poll going with six thousand respondents so far, most of which, about 70-percent who say keep the Wild Rose slogan." She says the province would have been better off asking us if we wanted to change the plates in the first place, as well as if we wanted to change the slogan, before moving ahead on their own.
