I don’t know how it happened but I’m $50 in credit with my electricity. I could cry tears of joy and happiness. (Christmas has crippled me, again. I am several times crippled *serious face*)*

It’s a pain in the arse. I put quite a lot into making a good dish around them. Sawdust sausages cannot be saved

They ARE good snausages.

I’m throwing away the disastrous curried sausages. The flavour was fine in the end but the sausages were INEDIBLE.

Dammit. That idea is prohibitively expensive. I will keep looking.

This is salvageable. Boychild is about to be 13, a young 13. He will enjoy the novelty

I will pivot: for the girlchild, 15, a Japanese snacks mystery box. Her fave food is sushi, loves bubble tea

Those are 2 of my fave things and a Japanese mystery box would make my day. I think it’s a safe bet

Bought my adult nieces portable Ninja blenders.

I did not check if they already have blenders.

According to my drawers and cupboards, you can never have enough blenders.

“They aren’t really into lollies and being a mystery box, something else might be better.”

I am JUST going to pretend that was the response and I couldn’t follow instructions, for my own sanity! 🤣

Asked sis if it’s ok to give her kids a sweet treats mystery box. She said yes. I bought boxes for her boy and my other sister’s boy, also.

Asked if teen would prefer sweets or chocolate.

Sister texts back:

“Neither of my kids are really into lollies”.

Thanks but I think I’ll just go with the bread maker. I hate working with spelt. It doesn’t feel right.

I’m just plain old English/Scots, with a lil sprinkling of Italian.

Fun Fact: I have Italian ancestry. It must be a long way back. The Scottish genes definitely won 🤣

Ok… PIVOT!!

It turns out the bread is actually not bad. It’s just the very tough and thick crust is not suited to a burger bun application.

So… tomorrow we panzanella! (Don’t tell the Italians)

Trying to figure out if I bin them or try to repurpose them. The only thing they MIGHT be good for is a panzanella salad

That’s it… I’m done trying to bake with spelt flour by hand. I’m getting a bread maker

I do want to try those. I want to master spelt buns but they won’t be wholemeal. It’s a step too far

I really need to try a proper hamburger bun recipe rather than just making a loaf and splitting it into buns at the last minute
