the trailers I saw were pretty bad. especially considering how awesome the movie is.

I do wonder if they're giving the presidency so much power, they're setting the court itself up for a future president to greatly diminish its power.

I hadn't listened to them in a while, but just started to again. still great.

why do you think? not sure nationalizing local elections a good thing necessarily. but I could see the argument that bringing together the party as a whole and uniting around shared goals is a good thing

biggest problems with this are center-left will be unlikely to fix the massive damage Trump has done to democracy.

also going milquetoast risks losing again. have to appeal to swing voters and people constantly make the mistake that swing voters are centrists. they are not. they're not ideological

*Ezra Klein, hosting dinner party*

Everyone! Very special guest coming, but a few quick notes-

Harry, he wants to stone you. Liz, he’s banning your healthcare. You too, Bill

Amy and Jo, your marriage is over. Jon, no more 4th amendment for you.

But anyway, the wine will be "abundant."

*winks*

he is still a consultant and the largest shareholder I believe. but unclear just how involved he is

but yeah, this is a good question. one would think he'd want to avoid being part of this shameful and embarrassing display

isn't that how everything else operates though? except maybe quantum physics?

07.09.2025 21:18 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I agree. body = mind.

31.08.2025 21:58 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

So the problem being we can’t determine what is and isn’t understanding?

31.08.2025 21:56 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Sure, I agree, it depends

many people find it helpful, but yes it does get things wrong and anyone using it needs to know that.

but it's the people who are using it who are responsible for how it's used. it's just a machine.

29.08.2025 18:13 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

in your take on it, does mind still = body, but "body" constitutes more than just the brain?

like just the rest of the nervous system? or more than that?

29.08.2025 18:09 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

Who is discarding these differences? They're machines. Smart people realize that.

And if you really want to get into philosophy of mind discussions, which are v interesting, that's another thing.

29.08.2025 18:06 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

what does "understanding" mean? how do you measure it?

we don't spend time debating whether a calculator has "understanding," either its outputs are right or they're wrong, they're helpful or they're not.

I believe plane retrofitting is estimated to cost between 400 million and 1.5 billion.
