A Pacific Mastodon discovers the beached corpse of a Killer Whale on the Olympic Peninsula. Gulls, Bald Eagles, and Crows flock around the corpse. In the distance, a mammoth charges a bull elephant seal as deer graze in the forest. Mountains rise in the distance.

The Olympic Peninsula, 12,000 years ago. One of the last Pacific Mastodon finds something new on the beach, washed up after last night’s storm. The gulls and scavengers are already fighting over this alien corpse on the sands.

Hatzegopteryx.

15 feet tall and a wingspan of 30 feet, this massive azhdarchid pterosaur was the apex predator of Hațeg Island, an ancient island that’s now modern day Romania in the Late Creatceous.
