It's homecoming weekend! I had a great time in the parade with Falcon Heights Council Member Paula Mielke. I am proud to fight for UMN students at City Hall and want our city to be an equitable place for students during their education and beyond.

Happy homecoming, and Go Gophs!

Frey knows his donors don’t care small about business owners, or transit dependent renters, or seniors on a fixed income. They want confidence that City Hall will prioritize big money and corporate interests over the needs of working residents. The PACs are their means of getting that assurance.

Similar to the national discourse, local Dems desperate for power to maintain the status quo have no vision or policies to offer working people. They have no plan on addressing our city’s most pressing issues, so they use money to deflect and spread fear-mongering propaganda.

The millions being spent to try to oust the progressive majority and return a failed Mayor for a third term is rooted in desperation and fear. Progressives in City Hall have demonstrated we have no problem being responsive to public needs—and have governed boldly and effectively since day 1.

“Opposing the DSA agenda and all that it entails is vital to the future of our city,” All of Mpls Chair Karin Birkeland wrote in a recent newsletter. Frey aligned PACs plan to spend millions because they hate progressives have disrupted business as usual at City Hall.

Since elected, I have championed policies for working class people, students, and renters -- and I've done so in collaboration with colleagues and our community. I am ready to keep this up in a 4-year term, so let's make it happen! Head to robinformpls.com/volunteer and get involved!

This case was about giving renters the opportunity to connect with who is seeking to represent them. Mr. Wall repeatedly violated their rights.

I am grateful the court affirmed what we already knew: Landlords cannot use their power to disrupt democracy or limit voter access to information.

We won!

Following three weeks of legal proceedings and over five hours in court, the judge found Wayzata-based Minneapolis landlord John Wall in violation of the law on three counts, resulting in a $1,450 fine.

Remote policies helped women work. In-office mandates and child care costs are driving them back out. Low flexibility and high child care costs are pushing mothers with young kids back out after they joined the workforce in record numbers during the pandemic.

Minneapolis can’t thrive if families are financially strapped because of childcare costs. I will continue to explore how our city can support a municipal program and look forward to more conversations with residents and government partners.

Working families need universal childcare. In the absence of federal or state action, local electeds must step up to provide support. Last year, I was proud to have led council to allocate funding for childcare workforce development.

“And we, as a community, need to create urgency around it if we care about the workforce, if we care about the economics, if we care about childhood development. All of those are vital to the longer-term success of our whole community and our economy.”

“In Minnesota, it costs $22,569 a year on average to send an infant to daycare — more than in-state tuition for a four-year public college, according to data from the Economic Policy Institute…. It’s no longer a child care crisis: It’s a child care collapse”

Cut the Contract with Israeli surveillance company Zencity! The Issue: In October 2023, the City of Minneapolis contracted Israeli tech company ZenCity to use “existing ad networks to deliver anonymous, hyper-local community surveys” to poll Minneapolis…

I am proud to have stood with students, faculty, community members, and more as we fought for a ceasefire and end to the genocide of Palestinians. There is still work to do, and I encourage you to join me in supporting a end to the surveillance contract with Zen City. Read more → buff.ly/S1hFm4b

“Judge finds the Trump administration unconstitutionally targeted noncitizens over Gaza war protests”

This headline is not surprising. Ward 2 has been a home to many protests against the genocide in Gaza, and we’ve seen the retaliatory actions and push to punish protestors even locally.

They plan to do a formal bid later in the winter for work to begin in the spring of 2026. The work is still moving forward. I look forward to the eventual opening of the Witch’s Hat- hopefully in 2026!

The Mayor’s Finance and Property Services Dept. has been responsible for using this funding to repair the Tower. My office received an update that the dept. made a 2nd attempt at soliciting bids for contractors that was unsuccessful.

Prior to the covid pandemic, it was opened a few times per year, with thousands of residents flocking for the opportunity to see the unique view from the top. The Tower has been closed since 2020.

“Depending on how several other key races shake out, Ward 2, which includes the area in and around the University of Minnesota, could prove to be a tie-breaking seat on the 13-member council.”

“With fundraising totals showing it’s the second-most expensive race in the city, the race appears to be the biggest push in several years by Frey’s coalition to disrupt the progressive majority on the council in one of its strongholds.”

This is the headline of today’s Star Tribune article that outlined key differences between me and my Republican-funded opponent. The stakes couldn’t be higher.
