So for Dems, the win is: reiterating 3 things that are already law, 1 thing that is a best practice, and 1 thing that was already a rule up until 6 months ago?

From the bottom of my heart: fuck off with this.

And they didn't even include ICE out of hospitals, healthcare facilities and daycares.

Here's what ICE is up to in Northeast Minneapolis today. Absolutely heartbreaking.

ICE has been back at it with their illegal activity today. Abducting multiple neighbors in the Ward, physically assaulting observers, coming into businesses threatening that they will be back to arrest people for no reason.

If they come back today, they’re going to have to go through me first.

Don’t let up now. ICE must be abolished. No stopping until the abductions end and we get justice for Renée and Alex.

Don’t fall for any media or elected officials claiming “we won.” ICE is still here and the struggle continues.

People power got Bovino out of Minnesota, but ICE is still here, and people are still being targeted and taken.

The observers, the food deliveries, the school patrols, everyone organizing–the shift in tactics by the Trump admin is only happening because of you.

My name is Christin Crabtree, and I'm running for Minneapolis School Board - At Large.

There are so many important ways to plug in right now, but if you're looking for one that's about building towards the flourishing schools and city we all deserve, I'd love your support.

Over 1,600 evictions have been filed throughout Minnesota from January 1 through January 23.

Filings for January rent have increased dramatically in the past week.

February rent is due soon.

It is still extremely dangerous for our neighbors to be out in public.

The Cost of Operation Metro Surge | North Star Policy Action by Jake Schwitzer | Jan 22, 2026 | News

Shuttered businesses, scared customers and workers staying home are also taking their toil, with an estimated minimum of $80 million in lost economic activity every week for Minnesota.

ICE out of MN now.

Researchers at @northstarpolicy.org estimate the cost of Operation Metro Surge to be at least $18 million every week:

- $8.9 million in ICE and CBP personnel compensation
- $4.5 million for lodging + meals for federal agents
- $1.6 million in detention costs
- $3 million in local police overtime

the financial cost of ICE’s occupation:

$18+ million spent per week in taxpayer money

$80+ million per week in lost economic activity

the financial cost of ICE’s occupation: $18+ million spent per week in taxpayer money $80+ million per week in lost economic activity

ICE's ongoing violent and lawless occupation of Mpls has torn apart families, destabilized our neighborhoods, and violated the freedoms of Minnesotans across our state–including the murder of Renee Good and Alex Pretti.

But ICE's occupation also comes at staggering cost: $18 million per week.

It’s good news that Bovino and some border patrol agents could be leaving our City. This shows that what we’ve been doing is working, which means we can’t let up! We continue to need people on the streets and pressuring our federal representatives not to fund DHS.

Keep it up, Minneapolis.

The officer who shot Alex worked for DHS for 8 years. The officer who shot Renee worked for DHS for over 10 years. Both are considered “highly trained.”

The problem isn’t "training." DHS was built to violate our rights and has been empowered to act with impunity. We must MELT ICE and dismantle DHS.

ICE’s most graphic and brutal actions are becoming widely known. But the damage of seven weeks of military siege in Minneapolis, and much of Minnesota, goes deep into every neighborhood, every block.

This is Minneapolis:

A neighbor sold some silver jewelry she inherited from her grandparents to cover rent for a neighbor who hasn't been able to work during these 7 weeks of federal occupation and is at risk of eviction.

We need an eviction moratorium NOW.

And resources for food delivery.

We need an EVICTION MORATORIUM NOW.

Our neighbors risk being separated from their families when they go to work. They also run the risk of being displaced if they don’t.

Sadly, Mayor Frey refused to sign the resolution calling on the Governor to enact this moratorium.

That courage by our Minneapolis communities is not being matched by Governor Walz and Mayor Jacob Frey. Residents cannot be asked to shoulder the responsibility for our collective safety alone.

Across Minneapolis, our community is out here every day. Watching over our streets. Making sure our kids get to school safely. Delivering groceries to our neighbors. Putting their lives on the line to protect one another, like we’ve seen with the murder of Renee Good and Alex Pretti.

“There are so many ways in which our local and state leaders could show up in this moment,” Wonsley told CNN as she called on MN Gov Walz to use his powers to declare an eviction moratorium, erect barricades to limit ICE’s access to communities or direct police to escort people to work or school.”

This is Minneapolis:

My neighbors are so desperate for food that delivered boxes of food are being picked up by other (presumably hungry apartment neighbors) before the intended recipient can open their door & take it inside.

Folks are at risk of eviction bc they haven't been able to work.

@governorwalz.mn.gov, you're right. That's why residents and City Councils are begging you for an eviction moratorium. The modern Anne Franks of Minneapolis cannot shelter in place without shelter.

You are the only person with the authority to let families hide until it's safe.

Appreciate Walz calling out AG Bondi over the Epstein files, but if he is going to poke the hornets nest and risk further invasion and brutality by the Feds anyway, he should be enacting an eviction moratorium instead of (or in addition to) the clever quips.

If they wanted this to end they could leverage their capital to do so. They don’t actually want the ICE operations that are widely unsupported to stop. They’ll still let ICE stage in their lots, let Bovino terrorize customers, and let their employees get attacked by ICE on the job.

Statement from Michael and Susan Pretti
Parents of Alex Jeffrey Pretti

“We are heartbroken but also very angry.

Alex was a kindhearted soul who cared deeply for his family and friends and also the American veterans whom he cared for as an ICU nurse at the Minneapolis VA hospital. Alex wanted to make a difference in this world. Unfortunately, he will not be with us to see his impact.

I do not throw around the ‘hero’ term lightly. However, his last thought and act was to protect a woman. The sickening lies told about our son by the administration are reprehensible and disgusting. Alex is clearly not holding a gun when attacked by Trump’s murdering and cowardly ICE thugs. He had his phone in his right hand and his empty left hand is raised above his head while trying to protect the woman ICE just pushed down, all while being pepper sprayed.

Please get the truth out about our son. He was a good man. Thank you.

In the last three weeks, ICE has murdered Alex Pretti and Renee Good. Hundreds of our neighbors have been abducted–including toddlers–while countless others are being tear gassed and pepper sprayed daily. ICE is the cause of this violence and must leave Minneapolis immediately.

Today, ICE executed Alex Pretti in broad daylight on Nicollet Ave. Alex was a licensed nurse doing what thousands of our neighbors have been doing–caring for one another. Alex could have easily been you or me or any of hundreds of people out here every day keeping our community safe.

This morning, federal immigration agents executed another one of our neighbors at 26th & Nicollet, in the Whittier neighborhood. He was observing their actions and looking out for his neighbors, and in response they murdered him in broad daylight. This has to stop.
