Thanks! I'm afraid I don't know how I exposed it; I try to keep track of the film/lens/etc. I used, but I don't log tactical details. Given that I was using the CLE, it was probably on AE; I am going to guess it would have been 1/15 or 1/30 or so. Probably, I propped the camera on a bench.

Since the bulk rolled price comes out to $4-5 per roll, I'd say it's a bargain. (FWIW these test rolls were sold separately.) But it at least *seems* to be inferior in quality to TMY, which presumably explains the deep discount.

14.02.2026 06:49 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

OTOH, the film grain and such looks very much like TMY. My informal sense is that it looks like it has a bit less latitude, but it is very smooth. So, if one can avoid getting scratched up rolls, and keep it from getting spots, it should be a pretty nice 400 speed T-grain film. /3

Given that I washed it quite a bit (including both ROF and distilled water, for good measure), per my usual protocol, one has to wonder if there's something about the material that is especially bad. (It's true that the 5000 shows every flaw, but still.) Could be cautionary. /2

Finally had time to scan the rolls - here are some examples. For unclear reasons, all of them came out absolutely filthy - more drying spots than I've encountered in a long time - and the base had a lot of scratches. The latter is clearly due to the condition of the film. /1

The pro move would be to anchor them on a $100 million opening offer, and then let them negotiate you down to $50 million. With a deal like that, everyone's a winner.

A photograph of two dark trees standing amid the dense bamboo of Arashiyama Forest in Kyoto, Japan. Their thick, twisting trunks and branches interrupt the otherwise uniform vertical lines of the bamboo, creating a quiet space between them. This gap introduces a sense of calm and stillness, drawing attention to the emptiness as much as the surrounding forms.

Depending on where you live, $1 million would be a steal. Ask for at least $10 million.

The outdoors would be more convenient if it were better equipped, and remained at a temperature tuned to my personal whims. I think I shall complain to the management.

Lovely! It's always fortuitous when the sun doesn't hit some distant cloud bank at the wrong moment, and cancel the sunset early. ๐Ÿ˜€ I've caught the green flash on occasion, but I think you need pretty clear air for it...

Life is complex. I would only observe that, in my experience, when an end is reached, it usually becomes clear that the problems precipitating it were present at the beginning. This might or might not be relevant to present circumstances.

Oh, also note that the BlueSky version of the images are downsampled (not always well, IMHO). If you follow the Flickr link, you can see the high resolution versions. That's one reason I always link to the original. More technical details there, too, for those who are interested.

Thanks! Almost all of my stuff is scanned with either a Coolscan 5000 (35mm) or 9000 (mostly 120), though I use an Epson V850 for 4x5. The Coolscans are really, really good. Frankly, I'm not sure that 4x5 (in ) scanned on the V850 is as good as 6x9 (cm) scanned on the 9000....
