My knees smell like sweets
Look what the postie brought today!
Can't wait to read the bugger.
Oof. At least when my daughter has a night like that, she's usually akip until lunchtime.
14.02.2026 21:00 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Got the exact same thing on FB yesterday.
The shit I put up with to be reminded when people's birthdays are.
Feel you, chap.
Once mine gets out of routine, it can be a right bugger to get back into it.
One night of falling asleep at 5am: See you for breakfast at 3pm, daddy. I'm nocturnal now.
Being sick is the only time I regret being single.
Anyway, am better today. Been over 24hrs since I've puked.
She still didn't go to school, mind. Last night was one of those where she finally passed out at 5am, and sending a 14 year old to school on ~2hrs sleep strikes me as unwise.
She's not gone back to school after Christmas yet. First week, she had what seemed to be the flu Mon-Thurs, then noro symptoms Fri-Sat. Could have gone back yesterday, but I've got it off her and getting her dressed while I'm fighting to stop both ends squirting ain't bloody happening.
14.01.2026 23:40 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0My daughter bouncing on her bed singing, "I'm a bird, motherfucker, I'm a bird!" at 3am when I'm down with norovirus.
14.01.2026 23:21 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I bloody adore it when you get to be cartoony.
13.01.2026 20:43 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Aspirin overdose when I was about 4.
My mum had taken me to one of her friend's house, and while they were in the kitchen I found a large brown bottle, emptied it out on the sofa, and tucked in to about 20 of them.
Ended up in a coma for a few days, and had a NDE.
Still love the taste of aspirin.
And they are glorious!
19.12.2025 19:25 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Signing up for any Hachette partwork trial that's vaguely interesting scores me free stuff months after I've forgotten subscribing.
Asterix book collection: 4 free books.
40K Combat Patrol: Tyrannic War Crusade book.
Age of Sigmar Spearhead: This Getting Started set that arrived today.
Things that have vanished from the end of my bed over the past month:
Pair of glasses
Lighter
Two pairs of wireless earbuds
Kindle Scribe
Ended up buying new specs because trying to find owt when you've lost a pair and are effectively blind in one eye regardless is virtually impossible.
I'm sure the day will come where I won't find them hilarious, but today isn't it.
30.11.2025 18:02 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0The child's school has a Big Sing assembly every week, and she often has to be removed because she kicks off when other kids get to pick what to sing.
She's not entirely opposed to the concept of other children being allowed to pick something on rare occasion, it's that they pick the wrong songs.
And, shit, it just clicked. Git.
24.11.2025 20:53 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Played it once. Did not get on with the building shit.
24.11.2025 20:48 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Indeed. She regularly drops off about 2am, 4-5am a couple of times a month. 6am on occasion.
Fortunately, she likes to sit in bed singing rude songs rather than bouncing about. Nowt like trying to kip while she's belting out, "I'm a bird, motherfucker!"
Mine had to have the day off today, because she finally fell asleep at 5AM.
18.11.2025 23:43 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Glorious!
17.11.2025 00:26 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0The 22nd Amendment limits someone being elected President more than twice, but says nothing about someone ascending to the position.
Why, hello Presidential Succession Act.
Mind, given the timeline we're in, this would be followed by Trump being made Speaker and them resigning. The truly scary thing is that would be perfectly constitutional.
16.11.2025 21:06 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Even thinking that plausible is how come the universe will give us President Boebert and VP Mace.
16.11.2025 20:44 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Loathed them. They were my last resort when desperate for entertainment on rainy Sunday afternoons in the '70s. There'd always be a bit of foot or hand that didn't stick, and the end product looked terrible with all the divots where you had to press really hard to gets the buggers off the sheet.
12.11.2025 19:31 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Greg: Did you have asthma?
Alex: Well, no. I was a robot, I didn't have lungs.
Dreamt a chat section between Greg Davies & Alex Horne on Taskmaster.
Fuzzy on the entire routine, but the set up and punchline are clear.
Alex starts by saying he acted like a robot at school. Banter, banter, leading to:
Alex: I was kept off school for a week. My dad told them I had asthma.
His mummified form was superb character design. It almost seemed like the Japanese animation studio forgot it was meant to be a show for American kids and really leant into the horror with him.
07.11.2025 17:57 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0ITV didn't have any Olympics coverage in '84 because of industrial action, so they aired V: The Miniseries and V: The Final Battle instead; after News at Ten, as I recall.
The series proper aired late night in '85, at least on Central. Not sure if it was networked.
Lost vision in my right eye, which is fun. It's a bit like looking through tissue paper; I can make out blurry colours and shapes, but no details at all.
I'm hoping it's not what Dr. Google says it could be, mainly because the treatment for that involves removing the fluid out of the eyeball.
Good to hear, chap.
