- A 2018 federal law prohibiting fees for export licenses (which Trump signed)

- Very loyal to the president
- Aggressive in his Fed criticism
- Very likely to support immediate rate cuts
- The author of a proposal for a currency deal (Mar-a-Lago Accord) that some see as technically defaulting on Treasuries
- Behind the idea that Biden Treasury meddled with yields
