Blistered fish, algal blooms, sewage fungus sludging the riverbed.
The only good news is the response: a “volunteer army” of citizen scientists & activists rising up to protect & heal the river.

Alternative view David. It’s somewhere where normal people want to share mutual interest without absolutely everything being squeezed through the tedious lens of left/right woke/awake. Maybe you’d just be happier paddling in the cesspit of the other place?

Easy to forget when every negative is amplified to the power of 100 by (some) social media.
But it really is a wonderful world.

Very good and hoping to build the sort of community here that you used to have ‘elsewhere’.

We have found that pollarding can help hugely. It reinvigorates the tree and seems to encourage it to grow out of the dieback. We’ve had really good results with 6 mature trees on the edge of our meadow.
