Slightly foxed. Lancastrian. Obscurist. Goonatic. Beatle nut. Christian. Quondam and eventual jazz pianist, I hope. Massively over-sensitive. Kiboshed by Long Covid. Hobbies: leaning against the sideboard gasping for breath.

I was nearly co-opted by John Amis in 1988 to be his tape operator for his theatre tours, where he spoke about the various people he'd collaborated with (Donald Swann, Gerard Hoffnung, etc.). Lovely man.

I missed that they'd done that, darn it. No idea about the archive status, sorry.

What we now need is the far less stuffy alternative to #FaceTheMusic that was around at about the same time, My Music. This had Frank Muir on it, as well as Denis Norden, and was funny and entertaining in the way this isn't. Mind you, the compere Steve Race was a pompous ass too.

I was always Team Muir. Patrick Campbell used to frighten me when I was a kid with his grumpy, husky voice - the stutter didn't bother me (my Dad stuttered). And then many years later I discovered he'd written that bloody awful screenplay for Lucky Jim. #CallMyBluff

I've got too much hair, I wear sensible spectacles, I haven't got any brown in my wardrobe, and I'd probably get into a fistfight with Robin with jealousy for marrying Susan Stranks. Other than that...
