I mean, I doubt many of us have ever trusted moderation decisions on this platform, but that's something I pointed out two years ago.

All this is to say that there is a clear problem with how moderation decisions are made across this platform, a problem that reserves contextual sensitivity for some users but denies it to others. As long as this problem remains, we cannot trust moderation decisions on this platform to be fair.

Dr. Flowers is one of my favorite folks to follow on this site, and one of a rare handful of academics who inspire me to finish my PhD one day.

So much of the angry discourse moments that riled up everyone on the site have been a direct result of tech-focused folks trying to explain tech to non-tech people. It’s a consistent lack of understanding of the
depth of knowledge that normies have. They’ve gotta pass the torch to an expert. 

A great way to turn the temp down here as @jay.bsky.team @pfrazee.com and @aaron.bsky.team want would be to stop communicating site policies and practices with individual users or on their timelines and hire a comms person who is a professional communicator to do all the front facing interaction.
