A memorable day for me even though it wasnβt quite as momentous!
21.01.2026 06:04 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Oh my gosh, I was on Rainier that day too! I skied the Russell Glacier out of Mowich, turned around when we saw intense weather coming, and got the alert about Biden. Just a few glaciers over!

Meanwhile in Seattle....

Same, and it's why I still have an iPhone SE (which is of course no longer made). Home button! Headphone jack (via the charging port)!
24.06.2025 22:05 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Shout out to all the writers who feel the weight of this today. It's not just about idiotic goofs or a single lazy step, it's about discounting the value of an individual's specific creation.
Writing is important. The world needs it. Even (especially?) the fluffy stuff.
If you hire an experienced writer (and pay them well), they will recommend a list of 100% real books. But more than that, their list will be thoughtful, surprising, insightful, USEFULβsomething that an AI list, no matter how well factchecked, can't achieve. AI will be the average of the average.
20.05.2025 17:09 β π 7 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0The problem is not that AI made up book titles.
The problem is not that the AI art has six-fingered hands.
They are surface signs of how little actual meaning is in AI creations. Factchecking the AI-generated slop so it can more seamlessly replace journalism will leave us all in a swamp of slop.
A question from the New York Times news quiz, asking "The Trump administration appointed which podcaster to be deputy director of the F.B.I.?" Answer (e) is Michael Hobbes.
I would sleep so much better at night if it was (e) @michaelhobbes.bsky.social
"Should we spy on Americans? I did 80 hours of research and the answer is yes, and then no."
Follow Seattle Met here on the Blueskies! Not only will you see my brilliant stories about PNW outdoors and travel, but you'll get Seattle food news from the source (that's @gastrognome.bsky.social) and a ton of good stuff from real journalists. Small pubs are still here and still doing the work!

20.11.2024 21:00 β π 18 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I donβt know if I want slower pacing or just get bummed when I realized Iβve binged it all too quickly! Iβd take two seasons a year if they could manage it.
05.11.2024 03:06 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Slow Horses is 6 eps actually; I do think 8 would be perfect for it, just a little more room for everyday fuckups between catastrophes. But agreed, Diplomat definitely would benefit from being looser too.
05.11.2024 03:05 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0There should be two (2) Wordles per day. One for a midday work break, and one at night BUT you only get your full allotment the next day if you put your phone to bed after the night one. Overscroll now and there are consequences tomorrow.

08.10.2024 20:07 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0There are a lot of concrete and well-reported answers out there to the question "why stay?!", but this novel was a more lyrical take on it. As someone from the opposite corner of the country, an especially good read.

Finally engaging with Bluesky to share that if you have been shitty or idiotic to a woman born in the 1980s, especially if you're a dude, you've probably been savagely roasted in a group chat.
Absolutely withering insults from women three time zones away who had you pegged from one screenshot.
The first line of the book is "Where is Papa going with that axe?" and the answer is 'the barn' and 'to kill a runt piglet.'
You know, for kids!
