Structural Enginerd. If your argument for metric is “something…something base 10,” you’re arguing for Fahrenheit. If you acknowledge a pre-1998 college football national champion, you should acknowledge that Kansas is the 2020 basketball national champion.

So we’ve added Hawkeye technology to measure first downs in the NFL. AFTER the ref spots the ball. So still +/- 2’-3’ on accuracy, but now we get measurement to the inch. So accurate and fair.

Heard a think at the back door, turned and saw a squirrel running away. Must’ve tried putting the walnut on the sloped guard, it rolled down and stayed perfectly. Well hidden squirrel, well hidden.

Grok weirdly hating Will Stancil is simply a reflection of the average Twitter user weirdly hating Will Stancil.

It’s not reading your writing and summarizing it, it’s reading every summary of your writing and averaging it.

There’s no need to put a confederate monument in Arlington Cemetery. The fact that Arlington Cemetery exist should be the ONLY confederate monument.

We had the idea to deep fry beer years ago, though the plan was to just batter the bottle and fry it. Now you have a nice crispy, salty shell to snack on while you drink the beer.

I’m a structural engineer, I always defer to the “Average Layman Smell Test,” when considering how physics works. All the math and science is unnecessary, you should feel confident being inside the buildings I have designed.

I’m seeing a few complaints about how difficult building permitting is in certain jurisdictions. As somebody who reviews plans for permit, help us help you. 3-4 back and forths to get certified plans asking for additional information and getting basically , “yeah, we’re not going do that,” etc.

Spent a weekend with good friends who grew up in a small town in Wisconsin. Hearing stories of the “hijinks” they got up to as kids, and it’s striking how different their lives would’ve turned out had they done a fraction of this stuff as young POC in a city.

I know it’s probably different now, but my understanding is being an asshole associated with assholes is not a protected class.

Seems like some folks read a lot of intention into black license plates and picket knives, beyond “I like the look,” and “Dunno, my Dad always had one and it comes in handy sometimes.”

Everybody hates “adulting” but it would be a lot easier if you could talk to literally anybody who knew what they were doing.

…or everything gets done anonymously on some web form that never really worked for simple stuff and is now applied to everything, but we need to go back to taking pride in getting shit done right the first time. We’re wasting $Billions in time, energy, and material doing everything 2 or 3 times.

Thread:
"Why are cyclists in the middle of the lane?"
That question being asked is the reason cyclists ride in the middle of the lane. The basic assumption at the heart of that question is, if the cyclist moved over, the driver could 'squeeze by.' The cyclist is demonstrating that would be unsafe.
