I think there should be more societal/media attention on the incredible progress in health, economic growth etc. of the last half century or so, and find the fact it's usually only brought up to minimize issues that still persist rather than spur further progress annoying

Just spent about 15 minutes boggling over this report. It's astonishing that as of 2019, Africa - which still has the highest child mortality rate in the world - has a substantially lower rate than Europe (now the lowest rate globally) had in 1950
