Like, really, I couldn't quite convince the nurse who administered our shot, but the nurse who called three days later to 'confirm' said our phase 1 reason was valid!

Rosalind Franklin died at 37 of ovarian cancer attributed to radiation exposure from the methods she & her assistant used to photograph a cross-section of the DNA double helix.

Meanwhile, Watson won a Nobel off that work & survived to the ripe old age of 97 by simply: stealing those notes!

Holy Crap, mammograms are booking out into February at my bikeable location... so not biking and the earliest appointment is still early January.

This is really really not great. (And so different than when I last got one 2 years ago!)

For any unfamiliar with the quality of journalism at Teen Vogue, it's well known for hard-hitting stories on "politically sensitive" topics including climate.

Then there's CBS: the only major network to increase climate coverage in the last few years. They just axed nearly their whole climate team.

If you read an amazing article from Teen Vogue about politics in the last several years, chances are that Lex McMenamin wrote it. Any publication that is serious about meeting this moment would be lucky to have them.

Who caused Alberta's education crisis and what will fix it? An investigation into public education funding in Alberta

I love finding other data minded people:

Key finding - Alberta's revenues increased with population growth but this gov't is choosing to spend less on education. They aren't prioritizing it the same way we have in the past or as other provinces do Shocker I know!

There's a satisfying feeling when you can finish a last minute Halloween sew without having to wind the bobbin!

I can see why!

My pasta went from hard boil to soft boil instantly, boil-overs will be much harder!

I spilled flour next to my pot and no burning... it was cold, I could just wipe it away.

Cleaning just got easier too!

Happy Diwali Everyone!

When I was a kid our next door neighbour would make samosas for the block and bring over oh so many! I didn't figure out it was for Diwali until one of my co-workers wife did the same for our project in 2019!

Eat well today my friends!

This should be treated like the crisis that it clearly is.

If any other act of violence killed 3 people in 2 days in Calgary it would be front page news.

perfect example of the bias @drtaragoddard.com writes about.

Instead of discussing "stranger danger" with my kids I go on endlessly about cars

Wait, we learned all about that at the Beringia Center in Whitehorse!

But we all preferred the tour we had of Dredge no. 4 in Dawson city... they powered it with remote hydro turbines and ran cables overland. Also, massive gold panning at scale!

If oil and gas can be the early adopters, making it easier for food manufacturing, materials, pulp and paper etc... to adopt - I'm not going to complain!

This set up can switch out many a gas fired boiler (that's regularly in use) in a process flow diagram!

If the heat was used to drive a turbine the round trip efficiency would drop - significantly. This is mainly used to replace steam generated by burning natural gas and used as process heat.

If heat is what you need, storing it as heat is very efficient.

Electricity is a bit of different calc.
