You’ve always been an incredibly physical performer: your strut during β€œSweet Transvestite” in β€œRocky Horror,” or the way you run around unfurling the mystery at the end of β€œClue.” Do you still feel that in your body? Does that live somewhere in you still?

I think it does, but it’s angry. My mobility is angry to get out. But it’s not happened yet. I do a certain amount of physical therapy. I did a whole bunch of it at Cedars-Sinai, and I got very close, I think, to walking. That was tantalizing. For insurance reasons, I had to withdraw. And I have a visiting physical therapist now, but I can only really do exercises from my bed, which is pretty pathetic. It’s not going to get me walking, I don’t believe.

[I have underlined the sentence "For insurance reasons, I had to withdraw."]

Enjoyed the New Yorker interview with Tim Curry, a free-wheeling conversation in which there were several sensitive questions about his paralyzing stroke. But oh my goodness, why was there no follow-up at all to this staggering answer? www.newyorker.com/culture/the-...

working on a feature on a similar character at the moment and the advance TL;DR is that these guys are pretty good at making themselves feel unavoidable and intellectually overwhelming, when their reactionary views are very often just incredibly pedestrian and unoriginal, it's their main strength

What a lifetime of playing football can do to the human brain Six things to know about the NFL, concussions, and brain damage.

It fucks the brain up which fucks up their lives and the lives of those who know and love them and sometimes strangers lives too.

American gladiatorism is dumb.

These 2 speeches, which, as Nick points out, on the same day, precede what Gill has pled guilty to by 4 years, are more damning for Farage as they also precede Brexit.

All European secret services would have been alarmed by this & would/should have been investigating.

Don’t fall for the authoritarian hype – Reform and the hard right can be stopped in their tracks | Gordon Brown From the US to Europe and Asia, grievances are being exploited to gain power. But moderate voices are still in tune with the majority, says former prime minister Gordon Brown

Et tu, Gordon (and @theguardian.com)! Enough with this euphemistic neologism. Call a spade a spade! Far right, not 'hard right'. 🀬

This is an exact encapsulation of why I moved to Bluesky.

No amount of handwringing in the Atlantic about how I owe some eternal Promethean suffering to the discourse is going to make me stay on a site I hate, that stopped doing anything for me professionally years ago.

Asked lots about this piece on Chronic Lyme disease, and disappointed in the @guardian (a publication I both subscribe and contribute to) for running it. Short thread explaining the multitude of problems with it, and why I consider it irresponsible to run as is..🧡

Just to point out and as a reminder for Europeans traveling to the UK, the UK system (ETA) is already in place, much like with the us Europeans who do not need a visa have to register and pay before traveling (16 Pounds). Here’s the link www.gov.uk/eta/apply

GenAI truly was the worst technology to come along at this moment.

An energy and water guzzler when we most urgently need to take climate action.

A disinformation machine as our journalism fails.

A bias machine as fascism takes root.

A job killer in a cost of living crisis.
