Given his recent success with comedic operetta in Pirates! The Penzance Musical, my first choice for the title character of Candide is Ramin Karimloo 🤩

I was singing along with Renée Fleming’s rendition of “Glitter and Be Gay” and I was cry-squeaking for emphasis (and also because that aria is not for a mezzo like me) and thought that I was sounding like Miss Piggy and then went “what if. BUT WHAT IF?!”

New idea for Muppets material: Leonard Bernstein’s Candide. The title character is the only human. Miss Piggy is Cunegonde.

Also, just had the realization of another Stephen Schwartz-ism in his compositions: beginning and ending with the same melodic material. Examples:
- The Prince of Egypt (“Deliver Us”)
- The Hunchback of Notre Dame (“The Bells of Notre Dame”)
- Wicked (“No One Mourns the WICKED! WICKED! WICKED!”)

Both Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz write endings to their musical scores that are known to make me weep (with emotion and also in awe, they both like to do big chords and choral moments at the end), so putting them together is a 1-2 Punch of tears

It’s not even the story that makes me emotional, it’s the MUSIC

If I get cast in this production of Hunchback Of Notre Dame, I am going to have to train myself not to cry at the end
