Great work if you can get it, especially during school. I should try to find a church job again. Not much else to do on Wednesday nights and Sunday mornings.

Every time you see a church choir that has exactly four 20-somethings, those are music grad students or young professional singers and they are absolutely paid. Plus, volunteers might not be able to take time off work. But I agree that school choirs would be a fabulous solution!

It's extremely common for church choirs that are otherwise all-volunteer to pay one professional(-ish) musician like $40-60 per service per SATB section, maybe 2-3 if it's a large choir, so they have someone dependably good to sing the notes so Mary Margaret whose glasses don't work can follow along

Also, what do we think the odds are that the kid I recognize from music class who checked in for 6th period and bounced almost immediately is in that band? Like, 98% right? Great band name, bud, but you ABSOLUTELY have 6th period biology and you do have to pass that at some point
