Medgar Evers’ killer was a Klansman, but Trump administration says stop calling him a racist - Mississippi Today Among anticipated changes to a new visitor brochure for the Medgar & Myrlie Evers Home National Monument is no longer using "racist" to describe the killer of the civil rights leader.

Ask yourself: why would this administration want to delete references to Medgar Evers’ racist assassin being a racist? Why might that be?

I challenge anyone in this administration or Congress to defend this.

122 years ago today, one of America's most infamous lynchings went down on the Eastland plantation in Doddsville, MS.

Thousands attended the immolation of Luther Holbert and his companion, whose name we think is Mary.

Great news, friend. Hard to believe we still don't have anything resembling a bio on Doar, let alone his incredibly important years at Justice.

i just read something about grief from C.S. Lewis and his book, β€œA Grief Observed”

basically, when someone you love dies, it isn’t just them that you miss, but the parts of yourself that person brought out of you that can never be brought out again.

i feel that with my dad.

If you ever want a really "good" picture of WCC COO, Robert "Tut" Patterson, I have one.

Seeing Emmett Till’s Murder Weapon On the 70th anniversary of his death, a haunting artifact goes on display in Mississippi.

The gun that was used to kill Emmett Till goes on display today in Mississippi. Wright Thompson on how it got thereβ€”and why it’s a rebuke of attempts to erase history:

This story is filled with errors, most egregiously that Milam and Bryant acted alone. There at least 8 involved. Milam didn't threaten to kill the whole family, only Mose Wright per his testimony and interviews. Carolyn Bryant's sister-in-law was in the story on the 24th, not her sister.

John Doar's cool old-school map tracking all the Civil Rights Division's lawsuits across the South is the one historical artifact I really wanted to steal.

Trump says undocumented immigrants do farm work "naturally" because "they don't get a bad back."

Mississippi's Declaration of Secession similarly said slavery must be protected because "by an impervious law of nature, none but the black race can bear exposure to the tropical sun."

James Meredith was honored in his hometown of Kosciusko, MS. The MDAH sign celebrates this native son who helped bring Mississippians into the 20th century.
