Here’s Boo for your trouble. A feral cat who’s been a visitor in my yard for 10 years, who I started trying to build trust with maybe 5 years ago, and who finally let me pet her late last summer. Now she visits almost daily and it’s the best part of my day when she shows up for pets 🧑

One caveat is that even tho the show isn’t all that old some of the references haven’t aged well, but otherwise it’s made me literally laugh out loud which is necessary and welcomed so…

I’m so exhausted but the nightmares have been bad and real life/news seems to be bubbling up some really hard stuff and…check in on your strong friends or whatever. (It’s ok, I’ll be fine, it is what it is πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ)

I finally started watching Ted Lasso. Everyone said β€œyou’ll love it” or β€œOMG why haven’t you watched yet???”. IDK everything is so fucking heavy & waiting was a good call bc it’s been good & hopeful & a nice retreat from the daily terrors & nighttime nightmares (which’ve been brutal, friends)

Maya is one of my closest friends and we gotta get this woman the hell out of rural PA and into my city where she has a place lined up and so, so much support on hand. If you have anything you can contribute, please do!!!

Seems as though they have laid off their entire photography staff. Photojournalists don’t just take photos, we report, we pitch, we take photos while our lives and safety are under threat. We explore our neighborhoods, restaurants and sports with a creative eye. Photojournalists do it all.

I hate this so much. So many good stories aren't getting published because there are too few newsrooms that are willing/able to take the risk.

We desperately need better industry-wide protections against the "taking legal action until you go bankrupt" trick. We *don't* have a free press without it.

Before I left the news space completely I worked in little newsrooms that hovered on the line between β€œable to afford the consequences of running the thing” and not. Which is not fun. To understand where we are all at now as citizens please read Frankie’s thread

It’s a little more music focused, but have you heard any of the β€œEnergy Curfew Music Hour” Chris Thile started after LFH ended? It’s via Audible but S1 is available elsewhere thru streaming podcast eps

(LFH was so great & I feel lucky to have seen a few shows live in the theater before they ended!)

Tattoos seem to be the only instance where A (with tattoos) says β€œhey, you say you only want one but you WILL want more”, B (without tattoos yet) says β€œnope, just one!” followed by B getting 2+ and the whole process starting over between new sets of persons A & B ad infinitum.

Walmart is officially a trillion-dollar company.

Today the retail giant joined the ranks of Meta, Tesla, Amazon and more to pass a $1 trillion market cap.

Meanwhile, starting pay at Walmart is as low as $14/hour, and thousands of its workers have to rely on SNAP and Medicaid.

These quotes reflect why 85% of our unit signed the strike pledge: respect for our labor, fair pay, and a contract that honors the people and creativity behind these brands. Our contract is officially expired, and we’re ready for Hearst to show up this week prepared to negotiate a fair deal. ✊

I don’t have a photo to describe β€œthe anger & sadness consumes me. It permeates through soft layers of flesh. It spreads thru my circulatory system & attacks my bones clear thru to the marrow. A witch could boil me & serve the resulting stew to curse a generation of happy people she found annoying.”

A Day for Gaza Today, The Nation is turning over its website exclusively to stories from Gaza and its people. This is why.

Despite the ongoing death and suffering in Gaza, it's fallen out of the news. So today, @thenation.com is devoting its full website to stories from Gaza, written by reporters who have been there. Very proud of the magazine today.

Apple acquires Israeli audio AI startup Q.ai Apple on Thursday said it has acquired Q.ai, an Israeli startup working on artificial intelligence technology for audio.

This feels…gross?

β€œApple did not say how it will use Qai's technology…Q.ai last year filed a patent application to use "facial skin micromovements" to detect words mouthed or spoken, identify a person and assess their emotions, heart rate, respiration rate and other indicators.”

Finally, the balance of equities and public interest favor a stay. The Government does not
cite any reason termination must occur post haste. Secretary Noem complains of strains
unlawful immigrants place on our immigration-enforcement system. Her answer? Turn 352,959
lawful immigrants into unlawful immigrants overnight. She complains of strains to our
economy. Her answer? Turn employed lawful immigrants who contribute billions in taxes into
the legally unemployable. She complains of strains to our healthcare system. Her answer? Turn
the insured into the uninsured. This approach is many thingsβ€”in the public interest is not one of
them

You now have a pretty good argument to just treat every person in power or with influence pushing transphobia, as a pedophile. At MINIMUM a pedophile apologist. From these emails to JK Rowling trying to have Epstein over for dinner MULTIPLE times, it's just something you have to conclude.
