The current living times feel like the very beginning of the movie "Birdbox", where people are kinda figuring out that there's monsters that are killing people but I suppose they're still not sure what they look and also, would rather exercise the option to look away/ignore the monsters.

And you know what? I suppose that's the popular approach anyway. I have days where I seek that quick turnaround time satisfaction but I know that nothing(not even that) will ever feel better than someone slowly, graciously and gradually becoming someone important in your life.

If your approach to everything is on that "quick turnaround time" mentality then you will get the short term satisfaction from whatever you pursued but the beauty of getting to know someone and loving them with all their demons is gone because quick results need you to betray yourself. It's an act.

You learn more about yourself and your partner; or you learn more about yourself in your career when you've already invested so much of your time. You don't give yourself grace over the potential failure and we then wonder why people stay in loveless relationship and unhealthy careers.

I also think that's how most people find themselves in this sunk cost fallacy position in their relationship but also with life in general. You rush to be an item with someone you found somewhat interesting, you quickly fall into the career you were told would be good for you, at 15 years old btw

And I get it. We've all been conditioned to think of time as this rare commodity that counts down everyday from the minute you're born and, as much as it is, I still think that's an unhealthy way to approach things, especially things as important as building a relationship. Things aren't marinating.

I think I figured out what bothers me about someone using my interests/passions as an icebreaker or as a means of I suppose getting close to me.

It puts a timeline in our interaction where we suddenly now have to get to a point/purpose of the interaction starting in the first plane (talking stage?)

I don't ever tell people to leave their relationship partners but I genuinely am judging you if you're dating someone who tends to go onto the internet and asks questions such as "Where was God during slavery?". I'm not sorry to say that's the ultimate "Hey guys. I'm not too bright" indicator.
