Montreal Adds Nine More Car-Free Streets after โMind Blowingโ Success
Four years after Montreal decided to make a 2.5-kilometre stretch of a busy downtown artery car-free every summer, the transformation continues to receive rave reviews from users and local businesses.
โTo use a technical term, it blew my mind,โ said Vancouverโs former chief planner Brent ToderianโฆโThey werenโt lazy about itโthey didnโt just throw up barriers and ban cars. It might be the best bargain Iโve ever heard,โ Toderian said. #Montreal

Thanks to all who came out for our Love Local Wine Walk. We gave away 30 packets of Florida wildflower seeds and raised $350 for our Green Up Fund. Those funds will go toward phase 2 of our pollinator garden in Alley no. 3. Thanks to Chef Tonda for letting us use her private event space for check in

What ifโinstead of noise and fumesโwe filled our streets with people, trees and the sound of chirping birds?

In 1996, Utrecht NL transformed a 6-lane car street thru the heart of the city into a car-free street that easily carries 40k people on bikes a day plus a LOT of public transit riders โfar more people now than ever moved on it in cars. And with so much less pollution/emissions, noise & public cost.

Heya! Our first books arrived for our upcoming APGD Little Lending Library. Weโre taking a slightly different approach to ours - the books will be focused on things relevant to our community. So, books about Florida birds, sustainable gardening, life in Central Florida, etc. #apgd #ecodistrict
