Friend is listening to a neurology lecture online, patient is a physician who got up to give a lecture, and got through it all in 10 minutes. Getting through a lecture too fast was the first clue to his colleagues that he had a neurological disorder apparently.

FWIW I didn’t read it as a joke, I really think this admin cares more about ideology than positive outcomes for the country.

Thank you! That pickup is what sealed it for me (I’ve never been partial to tortoise shell aesthetically so perhaps one day I’ll figure out a cheap way to swap or cover it :)

My wife kindly relented and let me get this imported bass (last one I could find in its model/color) even though my playing definitely doesn’t yet merit it because the company was sadly going out of business

You got an invitation to an adult birthday party from them and they’re waiting an inordinately long time to hear a response from you because you’re torn on whether the people should be celebrating birthdays in public with a group at this age but don’t know how to communicate that politely?

We should probably be placing incarcerated people in prisons closest to their homes.

Why?

Assigning individuals to prisons closer to their home reduces recidivism.

Really?

Yep. Being placed close to one's home increases social contacts that appear to reduce reoffending.

Athens is more likely than Sparta to dominate the ancient Greek world because of their open borders and their trade. The first reason why they were more likely to dominate was because of their open borders. According to the Athenian text, the Pericles, Funeral Oration, β€œWe throw open our city to the world and never make laws to exclude foreigners from any opportunity of learning or observing, although the eyes of an enemy may occasionally profit by our openness.” This is explaining how no matter what, they allow foreigners in and other city states to visit. Athens’ open borders are important because it helped win people over.Β  Instead of shutting them out, like the Spartans did, fearing they would copy them, they opened their borders to anyone and allowed them to take inspiration. Since they opened their borders to anyone,

Dunno if this is correct @mclem.org but my daughters short history essay answer to whether Athens or Sparta was more likely to dominate the ancient world was Athens because they were for open borders and trade while Sparta was closed and focused on military might (just beginning here)
