Have the mac outlines stand out a bit, but not too much... Keep them in front of the background shapes. They should be clearly visible against the background but not dark enough to clash with the "Low End Mac" text.

I like the circular shapes... I would keep them in the background but dim them significantly... maybe with 5-10% opacity. Keep it subtle.

The "Since 1997" text needs to be darker and larger; there's not enough contrast between it and its container. You might have to slightly enlarge its pill shape so there's still some padding around it (and as a result you might have to slightly adjust the position of the "Low End Mac" text.

I wonder if anyone is still around who knows the story behind this dialog...
08.08.2025 01:51 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0
Surely, they must have added this during user testing. Maybe some people weren't very precise with the mouse, and were frustrated the calculator wasn't responding to their clicks...
If true, it really shows how foreign GUIs were to people at the time.

Fun fact: On the Lisa's calculator, if you click between the buttons you will get a dialog window stating that you didn't actually click a button. I'll leave this in unless people complain about it!

@ihnatko.bsky.social Thanks for giving my project a shout-out!
I want to point out the icons in the titlebar actually are "close buttons." Double-clicking them turns the window back to an icon.
(...also, thanks for not pronouncing it "gooey!" ๐)

Note: A block is a measure of Lisa storage space equivalent to 512 bytes, or characters. The Macintosh expresses storage space differently, in terms of kilobytes. A kilobyte (abbreviated K) is 1024 bytes. Thus two blocks on the Lisa equal one K on the Macintosh. About 2000 blocks of storage are available on two and a half micro diskettes.

You can now switch the units used to measure file sizes. The default is still metric units; you may also use binary units (kibibytes) and "blocks." One "block" is equal to 512 bytes; this was the storage unit actually used on the Apple Lisa's OS.

I've been made aware of a bug where LisaGUI's installer may not, in some cases, install files to the disk when you click the "Install" button in the installer.
To mitigate this, you may have to copy files manually from disks in the clock menu to the newly installed blank disk.
