Retaliatory tariffs are all right and good but if Canada, Mexico and the EU want to get this over with sanctioning the hell out of Trump’s oligarchs seems like a force multiplier.

it's very authentic and I love the way she presents the recipes, with pictures at each step and suggestions for adjusting the recipe based on what's available.

right? I think the reason why I actually learned how to cook Indian food well was all the pictures, the pro tips, and careful explanations of every single step.

it's my go to meal whenever I come back from a long trip away from home. In fact, I'll be making it all over again this weekend when I return to DC, and I can't wait. I hope you try it too!

Dal Makhani Recipe (Restaurant Style) - Swasthi's Recipes Dal makhani - buttery, creamy & flavorful slow cooked black lentils is an amazingly delicious dish from North India cuisine. Check out this ..

dal makhani recipe - www.indianhealthyrecipes.com/dal-makhani-.... Swasthi is the *bomb* and like 95% of the recipes I've tried from her website have turned out so well! I credit her for teaching me how to cook Indian food (somehow, I never absorbed any of the lessons my parents tried to teach me)

Our family tradition is to always get together for Thanksgiving (it's the one holiday we haven't missed in over a decade), and that everyone has to contribute at least one dish. My contributions this year - cheddar biscuits, ginger molasses cookies, dal makhani

It reads like a cozy subsequent chapter that places you in the same mindset as reading the first book did. Quite nice.

Finished the sequel, A Prayer for the Crown-Shy, just now and it's a good sequel that carries the good vibes, hopeful companionship, and solar punk community exploration of the first book.

Oh my God, I saw that article and was horrified at the whole concept

The concept of a god of small comforts (Allalae) is so affirming. What would the world of today be if we had valued something like this, enough to create and devote our lives to a god that embodied this virtue?

How we live, how we feel, how we rejuvenate ourselves, the communities we gather and invest in. Even when the world goes to shit, we can still choose how we adapt, and don't have to choose nihilism or despair.

Just finished A Psalm for the Wild-Built by Becky Chambers. Honestly, it was heartwarming and the perfect read to restore faith in humanity, in that it depicted a future where humanity chose the right path (away from greed and selfishness). And a reminder that we do have control over small things.

Back to my favorite place in the whole wide world, doing my favorite thing - hanging out withy brother and reading at a table in a Barnes & Noble bookstore, sipping a green tea frappuccino. I've spent literally decades doing this, and the draw of this activity has not faded.

Glad to hear there's some improvement in recent months, and so sorry to hear about the long covid in general (somehow I missed that news over on the other place)

Doing well! Got promoted at work, broke my ankle hallway through this year and am back to full functionality after a couple months of PT following the surgery, and otherwise the same as usual. You?

yup, this was my successful strategy back in 2016 and I'm ready to deploy it actively for the next (hopefully only) four years

For sure. I also saw something about the next admin wanting to move EPA to another state. Basically what they did to certain parts of USDA (I think?). Another soft way to reduce the size of the agency. So many shitty things coming soon...

Honestly, we federal workers are probably next. They're going to pass the bills to revoke telework (or revoke locality pay if you telework), and it's going to be hell.

I also think it's important that we live our lives with joy and without apology. Let us find communities where we can express and find love in all its forms, and hold on to them tightly.

Sometimes the best we can do is outlast those that wish to destroy what we love. Hold hope close to your chest, for it is sometimes the only thing we can keep. Fight to survive, and live another day, so we can eventually outlive the folks that chose fear, ignorance, and hatred.

This couldn’t have happened without the media’s relentless sanewashing and both-sideism. Nobody as corrupt and deranged as Trump would have stood a chance if they’d done their jobs.
