Unfortunately, we just heard that it appears the West Caldwell Town Council is re-introducing proposed Ordinance 1898, which imposes unconstitutional restrictions on the rights of assembly and free speech (i.e., demonstrations) TONIGHT WITHOUT ANY CHANGES TO THE ORIGINAL PROVISIONS.

This ordinance has just been added to TONIGHT’s schedule for the town council meeting with NO CHANGES. Please help us get the word out!!

There clearly was no attempt to consider the points made by FIRE and the NJ-ACLU as to the many ways in which the ordinance violates the First Amendment.

While we can't be 100% certain, it is highly likely they will try to enact 1898 without further Public Comment and away from the presence of the huge crowd we had at their 9/16/25, at which they tabled the ordinance "indefinitely" to consider what revisions needed to be made.

It was a hot morning today at Crane Park. Thanks to everyone who was able to come out. We had many honks but there was an interesting development. Lots more dissenters driving by with curses and middle fingers.

Proud to report that the vocal support of 125+ patriotic citizens who showed up at the West Caldwell (NJ) Town Council meeting this past Tuesday caused tabling (and hopefully the eventual withdrawal) of ordinance 1898 which sought to preclude demonstrations and rallies - free speech - from the town.

WEST CALDWELL, NJ

After the town council tried to stifle protesters by requiring permits 30 days in advance, admin fees, & $2M in liability insurance, residents fought back.

Ordinance is now tabled.
