Last week, we looked back on a year of conservation accomplishments during our State of the Mountain Address. We awarded Save Mount Diablo Board President Jim Felton with our Mountain Star Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to conservation.

Another big win for protecting Dublin’s Urban Limit Line, and the last remaining open space between Dublin and Livermore! The Dublin City Council meeting voted on February 3, 2026 to not appeal our legal victory over Measure II.

A study found that the northern Diablo Range has the largest breeding population of golden eagles on the planet. Golden eagles are apex predators, making them vital for our ecosystems.

More than 100 attendees joined us at the David Brower Center in Berkeley for our annual Dr. Mary Bowerman Science and Research colloquium, which covers the fascinating research we support throughout the Diablo Range.

This year, the National Park is celebrating the 250th anniversary of the Juan Bautista de Anza Trail.
This 1,200-mile trail stretches from Arizona to San Francisco, passing through parts of the Diablo Range and circling the Mount Diablo region.
We are proud to honor Kaitlyn Luque-Cardenas as our Volunteer of the Month! She began volunteering with our land use and advocacy team this past October, spending several days a week helping out.
Thank you, Kaitlyn, for all that you have done!
In a win for open space, in early December the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors approved sending a measure to renew the county Urban Limit Line to the June 2026 ballot.
We look forward to helping this key land protection measure win at the ballot box.
