Why Does This Matter?
System-impacted women face unique health challenges and increased healthcare utilization, yet remain an understudied population. Future research should elucidate mechanisms behind these disparities, and identify innovative evidence-based interventions tailored to women with CLI
๐ฌ1.3x the odds of current smoking
๐ง 2.4x odds of any mental illness and 17% less odds of substance use disorder.
๐ฅ Women with CLI also had 1.3 times the incidence rate of ED visits; 1.2x the rate of nights hospitalized; and 1.4x outpatient visits compared to men, even after relevant adjustments.

An interesting study of gaps between โhealthspanโ (yrs of healthy life) & โlifespanโ across the globe.
Takeaway: the US has amongst the largest gaps, despite relatively low lifespan.
