When I say humans aren't animals, and you ask, "Are you denying evolution?" it's like someone saying they're non-trinitarian and a Christian asking, "Are you denying the Bible?" I'm happy to discuss but I want to point out your limited terminology.

Left wing (and all) people should also avoid the Darwinian trap that states that humans are just animals. This is just as superstitious & irrational as anything else. It has an Eden, Fall (racists will say divergent evolution of the races happens here), and a Messiah (Caesar of Planet of the Apes).

Democrats are also increasingly marrying only Democrats, who also raise their children in restrictive homes with specific media, education, & groups meant to enshrine liberal beliefs in the children. They also get burnt out on this. Once they're sent out, they are increasingly becoming Republicans.

Republicans increasingly only marry other Republicans. They raise their children in highly restrictive, politicized homes with politicized media and churches. Children get burnt out. Once they're "sent out" into the world, they are increasingly crossing the political aisle to become Democrats.

American politics is not about philosophy or values. It's all about kinship, and increasingly so today. Let me explain.

I would say that both of them think they represent "the voice of the people." Rural low-class whites and the Urban lower class have very different priorities but both think they're oppressed by elites among the opposition party, and both are kind of correct.

I think you're typical Progressive is as open or non-open as your typical Trumper. I find both sides can be open to both good things, and truly insane things. Both have major domains of rigidity, and significant areas of negotiation.

Are there any reliable studies of comparative rates of stress, nightmares, seasonal depression, etc? I suspect that sleeping too much past dawn, and immediately jumping into checking emails and other notifications, generally increases stress levels.

In ancient society we slept when it got dark. In technological society we sleep when we get tired of watching screens = general exhaustion. Seems sleeping while it's dark pays dividends. I would also like to see studies about comparative rates of seasonal depression and nightmares.
