I get these all the time. My guess is that it's scraping Amazon and Goodreads data and using that to mass generate e-mails that seem specific but aren't. It is fascinating, though, and there are definitely authors that get taken in by them.

Ready Player One is my favourite hate read. I devoured that book like nothing because I hated it so much and wanted to bask in that emotion.

Structure does as much to tell a story as the words themselves. If I want to lay words scattershot across the page, that's a valid storytelling technique.

If you haven't already played Detention, it is an absolutely fantastic Taiwanese horror game that does a really great job integrating folklore.

I also really love Among the Sleep and how it uses viewpoint to build horror.

The Dark Anthology series is just good campy fun. :D

Absolutely second this. What's the fun in playing a game in a way that worked for someone else when I'm me and experience things in my own way? I like that sense of discovery and puzzle solving, especially for deckbuilders. That's half the fun of playing a game in the first place.

My conspiracy theory that is almost certainly not true is that the overabundance of the term "AI" is for exactly this reason. They're normalising AI so its usage in everything becomes acceptable, even when we should be asking serious questions about the ethics of AI.

Audiosurf What is a game capable of achieving?

Audiosurf is amazing! It was my absolute favourite game throughout grad school, and I have many, many happy memories of crowding into a too-small bed to play multiplayer with my partner.

I am sometimes infinitely sad that I will never live in Texas again. The Hill Country in spring is the most beautiful place in the world, but it is politically unsafe for me to live in Texas. So I sit here, thousands of miles away, hoping things will change, but knowing they never will.

Cases like this would take *years* to resolve, and given the current court climate, I tend to doubt Itch.io would win.
