This stunning image is a composite of data from NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) Near-Infrared Camera (NIRCam) and Mid-Infrared Instrument (MIRI). It reveals the Cartwheel Galaxy, a spectacular sight located about 500 million light-years away in the constellation Sculptor. The galaxy is nicknamed the Cartwheel due to its distinctive ring-like structure, the result of a high-speed collision with a smaller galaxy some hundreds of millions of years ago. The collision sent shockwaves through the Cartwheel, compressing the gas and dust within it and triggering the formation of new stars. The bright inner ring is dominated by young, hot stars, while the outer ring is laced with cooler, older stars and pockets of dust. This image, which combines the wavelengths of light observed by NIRCam and MIRI, allows astronomers to see both the hot young stars and the cooler dust in the galaxy, providing new insights into the Cartwheel's history and ongoing evolution.

The fighting is finally over. It looks like the camp on the ucla campus looks like it was hit by a tornado. The police didn't even clean, they just broke the protesters things.

This dead expanse of trash and emptiness is what the ruling class wants to make of the entire world. The vibrant community based in solidarity that had flourished here is what we want instead. Socialism or barbarism, liberation or death.

the NYPD, aided by cable news, is trying to further push the β€œoutside agitator” narrative at Columbia

the evidence?

a bike lock and chain

β€œthis is not what students bring to school. this is what professionals bring to campuses.”

Columbia literally sells these bike locks and chains to students

fuck CNN. fuck anderson cooper. fuck anybody who refuses to report on tonight accurately. colleges called the cops on their own students and threatened to arrest the faculty trying to protect them.

a few weeks ago we took Austin to the urgent care vet bc he threw up, was lethargic and not eating, and today was his follow up appointment where they confirmed that he is just a dramatic jerk who made us panic for no reason and the probable diagnosis was Tummy Hurt, Not Brave About It

Just saw the video of cops tasing one of the kids at the Emory protest. He’s Black, on the ground w/ multiple cops restraining him and they tased him. We should be so much madder about all this. I am so angry we lied and told these kids education and college campuses would protect them.

weirdly, these protests are giving me so much hope--they're proof you cannot slowly move the needle toward fascism and hope nobody will notice, you cannot lie and trust everyone will forget. eventually someone is going to break and today it's these kids and they're doing it for all of us, bless.
