The end of the blog post "An app can be a home-cooked meal" by Robin Sloan, discussing his "home-cooked messaging app" for his family, BoopSnoop. This messaging app IΒ built for, and with, my family, it wonβt change unless we want it to change. There will be no sudden redesign, no flood of ads, no pivot to chase a userbase inscrutable to us. It might go away at some point, but that will be our decision. What is this feeling? Independence? Security? Sovereignty? Is it simplyββ¦βthe feeling of being home? Update, February 2022: Two years later, my family still uses BoopSnoop every day. IΒ have added one (1) feature, at my motherβs request. Update, February 2023: Yep, still using it every day! Update, February 2024: Still booping. Still snooping. TestFlight build 26. Update, February 2025: IΒ have changed literally nothing in the app, and itβs glorious. TestFlight build 30!
The update footnotes at the end of "An app can be a home-cooked meal" fill my heart with joy.

Pass legislation to limit the pardon powers. Lawsβespecially amendmentsβsupersede Supreme Court rulings. You are one of like 500 people in the country who can actually fix this problem, please do it

Thanks so much, sorry for doubting. Incredible.
Itβs breaking my brain though bc like she has the car with actual damage? The delivery is camp, but is it like a joke to soften the embarrassment and point it out at the same time?

Oh man that area's such a bad combo of far from a precinct and utterly Carworlded. Enforcement is (per usual) not gonna cut it.

In 1870 the Flatbush Railroad Company signed an agreement with the City of Brooklyn to convert all its trains to at-grade. I didn't know they ever weren't at-grade!
Thatβs so rad. Iβm a tiny bit bummed βyinzβ or βyousβ didnβt win outβfor the silliness of it allβbut so cool that people are aligning on something.

Such cool tech, so fun to ride in. Absolutely valid as a niche form of transport. Absolutely not worth reshaping public policy around, because this is what you get.
Yeah we gotta have an American plural you, cmon.
