Really sad indeed. Gareth produced some of the most exciting beers I've had from Scotland in a long time, was super buzzed about them. And that Glasgow Pale Ale from the Union was great. Unfortunately, I had some warning signs as far back as January that something wasn't quite right at the brewery.

Agree! I think what I meant to say was I’d visit their venues more if they had better beer options. Exale can be very inconsistent. And the majority of the beers in their venues are their own. I’ve had good, never great, but also unfortunately lifeless or even infected. It’s a gamble.

Not a glowing review of The Black Eeel. I haven't been yet, but generally think they do a good job of their venues. Shame about the beer selection, mind you.

This is a lovely deep-dive on the English hop harvest and a handful of green hop (aka fresh hop) beers made with them. The surprise twist is that one of the beers uses Bullion, a very old variety I thought was extinct. I guess not!

Fingers crossed! I photographed this amazing story from Fred. After our visit I became a certified Rye Guy.

The summer sun has left us and that means no more street pints until next year. It’s too cold now, and the change happened far too quickly for my liking.

Had a lovely Sunday session at the Kings Arms with @thornbridge.bsky.social and Garrett Oliver. The energy in the pub was great; a real buzz about the place for these legends and their beer. Love to see it.
