im sorry but we just spent the last decade being told the biggest issues were pronouns in emails and a trans kid playing jv lacrosse

if you said these things and got paid for it then you need to go away. literally if β€œwoke mind virus” is something youve ever said unironically you need to go away

And what are they learning? Experts on the formation of internal security services in authoritarian regimes point to a sense of impunity as a warning sign. Regime officials abuse their power when they know they will be protected, and even praised, for doing so.

Over the course of weeks and months, we have seen images of DHS officials abusing American citizens and immigrants alike, including killing them. What we do not hear is regime officials calling for credible investigations into such abuses, or even expressing any concerns. Renee Good’s killer was announced innocent, and both Good and her wife was instead the subject of an investigation, a perversion of justice so obvious that an FBI agent and half-dozen career Department of Justice prosecutors assigned to Minnesota resigned.

What we are watching is a paramilitary force learning that they can kill with impunity, that the regime will smear the victim and defend them. Unless politicians and the legal system exerts accountability, it will not stop. donmoynihan.substack.com/p/past-the-b...

This must be weird news to see if you’re one of the literally hundreds or even thousands of university administrators who preemptively censored faculty, scrubbed websites, changed the names of centers, etc.

Colonizing One’s Own | Political Theology Network The ongoing attempts to control both narrative and people after Renee Good’s killing are examples of what Paul Virilio describes as endo-colonization. It has very deep roots.

Helpful piece from Andrew Suderman, on "endo-colonization" (Virilio).
"If we are concerned about the current state of affairs, it is important to note that its roots reach back to the acceptance of and reliance on the military-industrial complex and its cultivation of a society shaped by pure war."

Trump’s national school voucher program could mean a boom in Christian education New Hampshire β€” where most voucher money has gone to Christian schools β€” may be a harbinger for β€˜universal school choice.’

Thanks to @anya1anya.bsky.social @hechingerreport.org for keeping our focus on this huge school issue.

On Jan. 1, 2027, Trump's new private-school subsidy will go into effect. It could devastate our school landscape and whomp on public-school budgets.

New Hampshire gives a preview:

Renee Good's Murder and Other Acts of Terror An interview with Robin D. G. Kelley on how to think about ICEβ€”and the broader history of police violence.

β€œMilitant civil disobedience, aggressively confronting a phalanx of masked agents in riot gear, or blocking traffic is nonviolent, but these tactics are not considered by the political class to count as β€˜peaceful protest.’”

I wrote about the slashing of the recommended vaccine schedule for children for @vanityfair.com because I think it's too tempting to read RFK as being off in his own wacky "wellness" world. In fact, his attacks on public health are an integral part of Trump's overall project.

β€œWe’ll Have Our Home” again is a song that’s extremely popular with white nationalists. It’s all over Telegram. I think the first time I heard it was from a video of a secretive group called the MannerbΓΌnd.

Christian mission wins right to keep religious hiring exemption The Washington church is free to hire only those who agree with its religious beliefs β€” such as abstaining from

The Ninth Circuit today holds that religious organizations have a First Amendment right to discriminate based on religion in hiring/firing non-ministers. The panel grounds its decision in the β€œchurch autonomy doctrine,” which the Supreme Court recognized for the first time in 2020. /1

Empire of Vice In a perverse twist on virtue signaling, the Trump administration is training Americans in the politics of raw domination.

"...the more one relies on vice signaling as a style of action and communication, the less relevant and powerful the in-group’s moral compass is as a practical constraint on anyone’s behavior."

It's nothing everyone doesn't already know, but ICE/CBP guys know they can do whatever they want. They're the absolute dregs of the Violence Worker Community, not trained for anything like what they're doing, out of their depth, all that. But it starts with them knowing they won't face consequences.

A Year of Clean Energy Breakthroughs Even as the Trump administration rolled back support for renewable energy in the U.S., wind, solar, and electric vehicles made huge strides globally in 2025. For the first time, wind and solar supplied more power than coal worldwide, while plug-in vehicles accounted for more than a quarter of new car sales.
