Lol. I reckon you could argue both. I know what you mean. I agree about the lighting, although I suspect I need to be a little more sophisticated with it.

Still some good spring snow in the mountains along with high spring temperatures. This one from last week, oil on board, 20x30cm.

It it not (as usual) simply intimidation and corruption out in the open? The US is such a prized export market that the threat of tariffs creates a response - deals, bribes, etc. A bullying tactic knowing tariffs cause bigger problems for trading partners than the US.

I'd like to think that reading this and finding it both resonating and amusing might just be the cure ... however ...

An angry lunatic might be a lonely figure, Trump, Unfortunately, seems to have the great and good of the world's leaders tugging a forelock and pretending its business as usual.

Perhaps even more bizarre is the glee to which many ordinary people see the dismantling of regulations, work place protection, safety nets and tax revenue as a good thing that they cheer on.

I agree, it is accepted wisdom that a website is a good idea although I am genuinely interested in which link in the chain it is. As a point of sale for artists with a large media footprint I understand, but for others, does it fulfill a role, that, say, instagram doesn't?

Interested to know if anybody has thoughts on (or links to) good artist's websites? Mine ticks along but I increasingly wonder about the function and value - are website galleries, blogs etc, increasingly redundant?

Painting can be an odd thing. Solitary and introspective one minute and the next, blowing a trumpet as you wheel out the latest daub. Social media, for me at least, feels a slightly awkward no man's land between the two. 🎺 Col du Sabot, oil, 41x33cm #oilpainting #alps #pleinair

Thank you for saying. Paintings, I feel, can also suffer by having to overcome the filter of the screen, I'm glad some of this one crept through.

I'm reasonably sure I'm a bad judge of my own paintings. Possibly the when, where and how a painting developed that means I'm invested in them in a different way? Case in point, here's one high among the red, orange and faded green of Autumn in the Alps. #oilpainting #alps #ecrins

I agree, it works really well. Interestingly, with paint I think the opposite is usually true, and I'm wondering why? Particularly with snow blues, purples, pinks etc. often provide the light and depth.

Sometimes the palette is more interesting than the painting, that's when I know things have taken a turn for the worse!
