Should More People Be Treated for Hepatitis B? Antiviral treatment for HBV lowers the risk for liver cancer and other complications and can prevent transmission.

Although current guidelines say many people with chronic hepatitis B don't need treatment, a growing number of clinicians & advocates are calling for simplified recommendations and expanded eligibility.

This really important!
Brilliant study!
For all organisms studied, the highest risk period of progression from colonization to infection was the first 90 days after colonization detection; however, the authors still observed infection risk up to 2 years after colonization detection #idsky #medsky

Dengue This JAMA Insights explores several aspects of dengue virus infection, including epidemiology, diagnosis, and clinical management, following a global resurgence in both endemic and nonendemic regions.

Dengue has resurged globally with larger outbreaks in endemic areas and new cases in nonendemic regions, facilitated by range expansion of vector mosquito populations and climate change, population growth, and urbanization

Exactly! Evidence is too poor on that matter. Probably research on this new outbreak will shed more light on differences in mortality between clades.

However looking at demographic data, it was shown that in cladeIb outbreaks children were the most affected. The severity of mpox is much greater in paediatric patients than adults, therefore age alone might be responsible for the differences in mortality.

Yes. Reason why is thought clade IB is more sever is based on some systematic reviews (eg: Burge et al 2022) which measured mortality % in outbreaks caused by different clades. Conclusion is that clade Ib caused more deaths.
